Screen brightness

Yesterday I adjusted the screen brightness of my desktop with the function key to a dim setting. This became the default for some reason. Even when I increase the brightness with the function key, the brightness reverts to the dim setting after 15 seconds if the mouse is inactive, and the screen does not become bright again if I move the mouse. I went to Power management - the brightness is set to 100%. Still no change however.

In power management go to the battery tab and deselect the option to dim the screen on inactivity (sorry dont know the exact wording, as Im on my desktop now).
