    Smile Angry Birds for GNU/Linux

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there are interested people out there who would like to work with me on a FLOSS game inspired by Angry Birds, complete with Ubuntu PPA for distribution. Conceivably, we'd use OpenGL and OpenAL.

I have not spent too much time thinking about the details of the game yet, except that it should mirror the hugely popular Angry Birds game (at least initially. We can always add features and gameplay not present in the original game).

Just trying to get a feel for the interest level. This would be a good project for me to learn some OpenGL as well.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Thanks for the support thinkertinker! I don't mind starting the project myself, but it would be nice to get a group going. It's more fun that way!

I absolutely agree; it's a great game and needs a proper desktop equivalent =).

That sounds like a great idea.... just don't get sued lol

Thats an idea we should create an app store like the one found on the ipod/ipad but for small games... that is if people are here to put the work in, not to mention that it could be good for attracting windows/mac users just a thought that will probably not catch on

My forte is C/C++. I'm using this as a vehicle to learn the GNU autotools properly as well, so I'd prefer sticking with C/C++ for it.

Your idea for an app store is a good one, CsG_kieran_2.

If you wanted to start such a project, I'd be happy to support it. Most of the work is already done via the Software Centre, for instance...a lot of the code would probably be reusable!
