    Question Problem Install from USB

    Hello all.

i'm trying to install Ubuntu 10 from a usb to a server of mine.
the server doesnt have a cd-rom drive, so i picked up Unetbootin, and put
ubuntu 10 on my 8gb flash drive with it.

i can boot fine from the usb. the problem arises, when after a few steps
into the instalation, it gives me a message saying it cant find a cd rom
drive, and it might need it to install aditional files.

i can select an option to advance, and give the location of the cdrom
    manually.

im now at a screen where it says "detect and mount cd-rom"
and it allows me to write the location for the "device file for accessing
    the cd-rom"

what i must do so that i can continue installing from usb? is it something
    im missing?

i have previously installed ubuntu on other machines, without this problem.

the server im using is a hp proliant g5.

    many thanks in advance.

You may want to download the latest Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat release and copy again to your USB stick. This could already have been fixed.

If still problems occur, it would be nice to have something like a photo to check what ubuntu is asking for, since I don't know that error until now.

    Re: Problem Install from USB

Will post a pic in a few minutes. its not a "error" thats showing.

i have tried with debian also, and i am stuck at the same screen.
so i dont think its a problem of a faulty ubuntu iso on my usb.

let me post some of the pics.

what must i do from this point forward?
    note the following:

im installing on a hp server machine (proliant g5)
im using a usb flash of 8gb, wich i installed the ubuntu iso through unetbootin.
there is no cd-rom drive in the machine.

    many thanks

Hmm I would say no. But don't know for sure. Lets wait for someone else to join the discussion.
