    Ripping software

I've been trying to find good ripping software, I was using RipperX but have run into a bug that's currently going for it with regard to tracks over number 9, which sucks... so I'm wondering what else is out there?

I've search some, lots of people seem to use Grip (can't find it in repo's anymore) ABCDE (same issue as grip) so, I'm wondering what people like with lots of options for MP3's (ripperX is good in that regard, can select VBR, can select the KB rating, that kind of stuff)

    Thanks

Nothing beats the command line, though you might find it to be a lot more manual work than you are used to. I personally verify my drive and rip to pcm wav files using cdparanoia, then convert to flac and use metaflac or banshee to tag and rename them. Only way I am comfortable making backups of music I really like.

With the "lame" package installed I use Asunder.
It can output to mp3 (with the lame package installed), wave, wavepack, ogg or flac (at the same time if multiple selections are set in preferences). It also supports cddb lookups.
Final file destination and naming conventions are easily adjusted as well.

Nice, thanks that's pretty much what I was looking for, it seems very similar to RipperX but without the problem bug

    Thanks

I don't think Grip is supported any more.

If you want Grip, you need to compile it from source: http://sourceforge.net/projects/grip/

I don't use it very often, but it's handy to have around.
