I'm gonna reconsider my first post. I can probably get used to it, but not now. Its not ready for prime time. I'm hoping that it'll get better.

Angry Re: I don't like Unity, how do I make Gnome the default

    Hi All

I installed the Maverick netbook edition on my ASUS EEE900 yesterday and got the same shock as many others have reported when confronted with Unity. It is the lack of configurability that really grates but also the lack of autohide, inability to use the desk top and no direct access to system administration and preferences.

My solution was to simply install the Maverick 32 bit desktop version which runs fine on the EEE netbook.
Simple, robust, effective and the familiar interface is back.

I hope Ubuntu will revisit the decision to make Unity default on desktops and stay with Gnome which is what helped make Ubuntu such a success in the first place.

    Fingers crossed
    Ole Nielsen
