Thanks for the reminder.
Have looked at your lsmod and there are no drivers installed, so rechecked your earlier post about what you installed and found what might be the problem.
Run this in a terminalReboot and it should be working. If not repost a newCode:sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installerThank you.Code:lsmod

Hi all,
I'm using Dell Inspiron 1545 with Ubuntu 11.10 and my wireless card is:
c:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY [14e4:4315] (rev 01)
I have no problem with installing and activating STA drivers; however, the signal level is always too weak in Ubuntu. Sometimes Ubuntu doesn't even detect the networks that I can connect in Windows 7 without any problem at all. Is there any way to increase the signal level, or is it just because the STA drivers are not as good as Windows drivers in Linux? If that's the case, is it possible to use ndiswrapper tool to install wireless drivers instead of STA?
Thanks.
I am having issues with 11.10, Broadcom BCM4312. I have posted a separate thread detailing my issues: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11603449.
Would appreciate it if somebody could take a look. Thanks!
This solution worked for me:

For some reason, the STA drivers didn't work, but the old B43 did.
I'm using an old Dell Inspiron 6400 (E1505) by the way.
Hello there,
Am a newbie and am using
Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) [Installed using wubi]
on an Asus 1015PN netbook with 2Gigs memory.
Got a Broadcom 4313 chipset [14e4:4727]
And now am in a real mess
I wanted to connect my netbook to my mobile using Joikuspot premium
and i was able to scan and find the wireless ap but not able to receive an ip so i set a static ip and disabled ipv6 , still no go. . .
Then after reading a post i installed the broadcom wireless source , common and the firmware [brcmwl-kernel-source] using synaptic, after uninstalling the previous brcm sta driver
[which was downloaded form http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php]
After rebooting the system i did a iwconfig and was not able to find the wlan0 interface which was there before, so i removed the drivers that i installed and reinstalled the old broadcom sta from their site, am still not able to find the interface [but ubuntu recognizes my wlan card when i do a lspci].
Someone please help me. . .
update: guess its conflicting drivers , searching for the conflict now
Update: Solved it bcma was conflicting with wl driver, so blacklisted it. and even the wifi tethering problem was solved. now goanna setup a hotspot [like connectify] and a webdav server.

Check to see if ssb, bcma, wl or b43 is loaded:
# lsmod | grep "ssb\|wl\|b43\|bcma"
If any of these are installed, remove them:
# rmmod ssb
# rmmod bcma
# rmmod wl
After this you try to re install your STA driver. Check if it helps. The problem you might be having is the problem of conflicting drivers.
Tell me the result
