The pommed package is not overly useful on the MBA31, so here is an alternative way of switching the keyboard fn keys:
    Code:
    sudo -i
    echo "options hid-apple fnmode=2" > /etc/modprobe.d/apple-fn-key.conf
    depmod -a
    update-initramfs -u

With this (maverick-only) package, the cirrus-based MBP53, MBP71, MBA31 and MBA32 all get the latest support from linus' tree.

On my MBA31, I get stereo sound from the speakers and headphones. No luck with the microphone, though.

    Enjoy!
Just installed the package, but still no sound from the speakers... MBA 3,2

Has anybody tried installing 64 bit? I realised I had installed 32 bit and was only getting 2.7 GB RAM, so I tried to install 64 bit. The disc booted to a bland GRUB screen, and after selecting try Ubuntu, it goes to a blank screen and nothing happens, no disc activity or anything. Not very impressive.

This seems to have backfired on my machine. I setup the mouse on OS X before I installed Ubuntu, and despite Ubuntu not believing that a BT adapter was present, the mouse worked just fine.

Now that it knows there's a BT adapter, it asked me if I wanted to allow the mouse to connect when I turned it on, and after granting access it didn't work. I then tried setting it up as a new device, it found it just fine, but failed to connect.

I think most are running x64 here. Did you try adding nomodeset to the grub kernel line?

edit: also, please edit your posts instead of adding multiple new ones after each other, it helps to keep the thread clean.

I trust you switched everything on in alsamixer while testing?

I tried with, without, and the check disk for defects, all options resulting in a blank screen, doing nothing. If your running it on x64, then I'll try a new disc or something.

Ahha, didn't think about it, found it, adding to the wiki now.

Right, I've tried with a new disc, still nothing. When I hit F1 to boot, it spins up the disc as if it were loading for about 20 seconds, and then the drive just dies. Blank screen all the way through.

I had this exact same experience. What type of optical drive are you using?
