What software can I use to access my library?

I want to install something on my Ubuntu box that will let me watch all my videos/music on any other machine on my network.

What would I install on my 'file server' and what on my 'client machine'?

Which other OSs are going to be on the network either sending or receiving?
Also do you want to stream the media (Upnp or Dlna) to a pc or xbox/ps3 or just have a file server?

I want to stream the video files, not just have them "openable" from a network shared folder.

Clients will include Windows, and Linux.

    I recommend XBMC.
