Symbolic Links deny permission in Samba share.

I have a Samba share that contains a symbolic link and when I try accessing it from the WinXP machine it denies permission. If I access it from the Linux account, it goes in with no problems. Is there a certain setting that needs to be set or enabled or is this just one of those things with Samba?

Samba has changed the ability to follow symlinks because of a security issue: http://www.samba.org/samba/news/symlink_attack.html

To circumvent the change you could try this:

Add the following lines to the [global] section of smb.conf:
    Code:
    follow symlinks = yes
    wide links = yes
    unix extensions = no
    Then restart the samba service:
    Code:
    sudo service smbd restart
