Hi, what kind of dongle is it? Make and model please.
Also plug it into the USB and run lsusb from a terminal and copy and paste the output here. That will help identify your problem.
When you right-click on the network icon and choose Edit Connections/Mobile Broadband, do you see any reference to the dongle there?
.
Did you try the "standard procedure"?
1. Plug the modem in.
2. Wait a minute or so.
3. Click on the NetworkManager icon in the notification area.
4. Click on "New Mobile Broadband Connection".
5. Pick your country, network and plan.
6. Done.
If it doesn't work, what make/model is it?
