    Disable dist upgrade notification?

Is there a way to completely disable all prompts to upgrade the OS?

Ubuntu is a complete train wreck when it comes to distribution upgrades. Even on a freshly installed 11.04, upgrading to 11.11 bricks the computer. Developers have never made a smooth dist upgrade happen, and probably never will.

Therefore, on my friend's computer, I would like all buggy, non working upgrades to not be installed. For all I care, 11.04 should be installed forever and never upgrade. How do I do this?

Update Manager > settings and set the notification option for new releases to never .

    Click on Update manager.
    Click on Settings. (Bottom Left)
Click on Show new distribution releases and select never.
