    Questions about Amarok

Hey all, so I just installed Lubuntu successfully on a Compaq SR5010NX and I got the GUI working (with Lubuntu). I installed Amarok, but I have some questions on how to make it function better. Is their a plugin to make my ipod nano compatible with it?. How do I create a shortcut in the start menu of ubuntu for Amarok?. Whatś the easiest way to get mp3ś working with Amarok? is it automatic?.

I know some of these questions are completely retarded to ask when you guys have been using linux for a long time but i really am pretty much completely new to Linux and i feel proud for even being able to get it working!, well thanks in advance for any helpful noob tips .

OH and another question. What is the use of naming Ubuntu in for example: ¨Kubuntu¨ or ¨Lubuntu¨? Why can´t they all be just called Ubuntu?.

    Re: Questions about Amarok

Ubuntu, kubuntu, xubuntu and lubuntu all use different desktop environments - in the same order - gnome, kde, xfce and lxde.

To get mp3s working in amarok you need libxine1-ffmpeg installed.

No idea how to create shortcut's in lubuntu.

No questions are 'retarded' - in fact please don't use terms like that.

    No questions are stupid either.

Welcome to the forum and linux.

Edit - and if amarok refuses to find your collection - post back here about that.

You can create a shortcut on the desktop, you need to right click on any items of the menu, and click on 'Add to desktop'. But you can't add a shortcut inside the menu, it's not currently possible.

The problem is i cant find a shortcut in the start menu, i have to launch amarok from the terminal. Iĺl try a different mp3 software suite, im sure theres one that supports ipods.
