    percent question

    Finishing up a keyword report for an industrial website.



    So the question is what % of 480 is 22?

    Shouldn't you calculate the percentage on the total number of searches (22/(22+480)) and (480/(22+480))

    Nope...just 22/480=.04 or as poster #2 said, 100*22/480 = 4%

    If you wanted to know what percentage the 22 searches is of the total searches, then you'd do 22/(22+480)

    What: w
    %: /100
    of: *
    480: 480
    is: =
    22: 22

    w/100*480=22

    Apply basic algebra:

    w*4.8=22

    w=22/4.8

    w=4.58(3)

    (the (3) means an 3 repeats infinitely.)
