I'm trying to get an internet dongle work on Lubuntu. It's a T-Mobile UK dongle. Here's the lsusb:
Bus 004 Device 003: ID 0483:2016 SGS Thomson Microelectronics Fingerprint Reader
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 1668:2441 Actiontec Electronics, Inc. [hex] BMDC-2 IBM Bluetooth III w.56k
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 19d2:2000 ONDA Communication S.p.A. ZTE MF627/MF628/MF628+ HSDPA
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
I installed usb_modeswitch (through synaptics) + tried to enable the dongle through the network manager wizard. When I click on my network connections, though, the dongle doesn't appear (I previously tried to do this on Ubuntu 10.04: though the dongle didn't connect, it did appear as GPRS connection on the top of the list of the wifi connections).
Also if I go to Preferences>Disk Utility, I sometimes can see the dongle recognised as a USB memory stick and sometimes it’s not there....
