Newbie question - installing Ubuntu, new HDD

Hi my problem - 6 yr old PC, not bad specs, I Intend to upgrade.

It has 2 HDD, the existing bootable disk is failing, how do I make the data drive bootable and install Ubuntu on it.

I know to switch the Primary drive and secondary drive positions (probably leaving out the secondary (old) drive completely).

However what do I do next to install Ubuntu and make it bootable?

I suppose you are using IDE drives, since you talk about primary and secondary. Just remove the failing drive and make sure the BIOS detects the other drive as primary master.

Now, just pop in the CD and enjoy the installation process. You'll be enjoying Ubuntu in no time
What? I'm not allowed to say fsck? Then how is i supposed to help people fix their filesystems?
