not really scary; more bewildering; very uncommon so it's just confusion for me anyway

I have no idea what 'plates' exist here; have no reason to know .. Which is good; I don't know to be scared! or be blase (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Yz2RC9C1tM or LA Story (Steve Martin) - diners in LA continue talking as tables move around them due to quake)

Knowing the names of plates .. which to be worried about .. a different world
