Hello ghada and welcome to ubuntu forums.

Ubuntu uses usb_modeswitch to switch modems to their useful mode (modem) instead of (Zero-CD) and the latest OpenSUSE contains the package.

so i think this steps will work also with OpenSUSE expect packages installation because OpenSUSE uses (zypper) instead of (apt-get)
