Today I just got the Qt 4.6.2 update that was released by Nokia more than 6 months ago. Version 4.6.3 has been out for a while and is quite stable. I use it every day on my Ubuntu 10.04 installation. I had to get it from Nokia directly. They are about to release 4.7.0.
Is canonical in trouble? Qt is an integral basis for Ubuntu 10. Why is it that a critical element of the OS takes more than 6 months to get an update that is two generations behind?
What gives? And it is not just Qt - Java and FireFox are just as far behind. FireFox has just released 3.6.10 but canonical has not even released 3.6 yet.
Why have canonical releases if they are not going to keep up with at least the last stable release of critical elements of the distro like Qt, Java, and Firefox.
