In Windows I can rename a file by clicking the name twice slowly (two single clicks). I was wondering if I could get the same in Nautilus or perhaps a replacement program for it that works on Ubuntu 10.04 with the gnome desktop environment.

I'm not sure if I understand correctly , if want to rename a file in Ubuntu right click the file and drop down to rename on the menu . If you want Ubuntu to behave like windows , I'm not sure that's possible , so I bump.

Not sure this can be done. I usually use F2 to rename files. Works in Nautilus and Thunar.
It looks like its not possible to do it with Windos-like double click. I use F2 to rename, it highlights the name but not extension, pretty convenient..
right-click -> rename?
or
Code:mv /path/to/file /path/to/file<new name>
