Where's the bin86 package?

I'm following the instructions from the KernelByHandHowto and it says I need to install bin86 and libncurses-dev packages. Neither of these is found by "apt-get install". I found the libncurses5-dev and downloaded it manually from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool, but I can't find the bin86 package. Do I really need it to compile the kernel?

It's in pool/main/l/linux86

In the package-comment it says:

under Linux it's used only to create the 16-bit bootsector and setup binaries

so it seems to be necessary

I would like to know where these files are?

need to custom build kernel so i can get to my date on iteraid drives.

Someone out there must know where we can get these files, be nice guys and help a Ubuntu newbie out

I really don't think you need bin86 to build Linux 2.6. I think it is only used by Lilo.

Try apt-get update to correct that error message.
If it doesn't work, comment all lines in your sources.list, apt-get update, uncomment and apt-get update.
