Mepis is switching to Ubuntu Repositories soon. The experimental version, downloadable only by subscibers, so far is doing awesome.
So in my mind Ubuntu repos > debian repos, which knoppix uses.
Debian is always behind on the latest packages. And their etch repos, are rather up to date, are so unstable i wouldnt even bother using them.
So Mepis > Knoppix if you want stable bleeding edge packages.
What is the meaning of this?Mepis is switching to Ubuntu Repositories soon
Future releases of mepis are going to be based on Ubuntu.Originally Posted by sbasak

I don't get it.

Actually warren already released a version with a Ubuntu base. Did he alos go strictly with Ubuntu reposor is he pulling from various places? I would say that while it will use the Ubuntu base it will still have mepis tools and be more like warren wants it to be...
maybe
I don't think there's a Mepis DVD, so Knoppix probably wins this one.Originally Posted by sbasak

Knoppix is designed to do this and has it as a menu item. Mepis may be able to do this, but it isn't set up for you.Persistent storage in USB disk
Knoppix has just about every application it can squeeze in.Varieties of installed applications
Mepis, hands down.Ease of installing/adding new applications
