    Exclamation 10.04 stalls after boot

Everything was working well, I updated a few packages (not even sure of which) through update manager and now I'm only able to run in Failsafe Graphics mode (from the "Recovery" option on GRUB). I've turned Compiz off and I've tried all the 3rd party drivers for my graphics card.

I'm not a total Linux noob, but this has me stumped. When the computer locks up, some things remain working (mouse moves, sometimes windows will minimize if I click on the bottom taskbar, but ultimately I have to use ctrl+alt+F1. Though sometimes I can use the windows that are up, I have to use a keyboard / mouse combination because the keyboard is the only way to select an option on a pop up dialog, the mouse will not click these. I've played with the xorg file, I replaced the xorg file from a backed up version I had from a month ago or so. I'm pursuing this as something wrong with the graphics at this point, any ideas would be appreciated.

    Specs and xorg file attached.

    Thank you for your time.

Did you try to boot with no xorg config?
