All the below no need for next version Ubuntu Maverick 10.10

First see see the list of supported chipset here http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Dr...9k_htc/devices

you can find your usb wireless chipset with the command

lsusb

if the driver support your chipset, continue.

Install the ath9k_htc-installer


For Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 LTS and oldest download the .deb package from here https://sourceforge.net/projects/ath...htc-installer/ and install it!

For Ubuntu Maverick 10.10 download this .deb package https://sourceforge.net/projects/ath...2010.10-fixed/ and install it!
But on Maverick must be works out of the box usb wireless

If someone install the older .deb, remove it first from synaptic the package name "ath9k_htc-install"
and then, install it!



After opening the program for installation the driver from menu - Applications - System Tools - ath9k_htc-installer
and follow the instructions to make installing the driver.

• Every time where upgrade kernel, must be run the program.
• It is ΝΟΤ necessary to connect the internet to run the program.
• The .deb package is tested on Ubuntu 10.04 32bit but logically it can be work in all versions.

new to ubuntu, love it so far.
My wna1100 was working fine in 10.04, upgraded to 10.10 and reloaded ath9k and still it worked fine. did some recent updates form the update manager and i've got all kinds of issues now. #1 being wna 1100 does not work any longer. i have removed and reinstalled ath9k and still nothing.
lsusb shows it, but it no workie......
#2 also now on reboot I can't use my usb wireless key board and mouse. I have to type in my password on a second serial keyboard and wait about five minutes and then the usb stuff starts working.

using my htc evo for internet now, tethering from wifi. that works great right off the bat, just an FYI

Open terminal and run

sudo gedit /etc/modules

remove one line with ath9k_htc
save it and exit

Then, remove ath9k_htc-installer from synaptic
download .deb package for Ubuntu Maverick 10.10 and install it http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1564278
and run again ath9k_htc-installer.
Reboot and see if it works!

If problem does exist, open terminal, and post the output of 4 commands

uname -a
lsmod | grep ath9k
ls -l /lib/firmware/ar*
dmesg | grep usb
