What's a good UK based host?

I'm looking to get some hosting and it seems logical to get some that is based in the UK. There's lots and lots of info around on the best American hosts but not much on UK based hosts.. So I thought you lovely people on here might have some recommendations

I could get an American host but might get better support times on a UK host. Presumably a UK host will also have their servers based in the UK? Which is better since most visitors to my site will probably be from the UK.

I don't need anything too expensive, just enough to run one or two small websites. It also needs -

- to not be fasthosts
- to have support for a MySQL database without an extra hidden charge
- Wordpress friendly
- cheap or free domain registration included would be good
- Linux server with SSH and FTP preferable
- reliable of course

They had a different website a few years ago, won a few awards, were quite good and cheap for the year or two I used them.

In the end I think I might go for http://www.webhost.uk.net/ since they seem to have good reviews over all whereas the others are a bit mixed.

Good choice ..I am myself hosting with http://www.webhost.uk.net for more than 2 years , they have got fantastic support and good server performance for all this years.
