Does Empathy support video and audio with aim?

Hi, i need to know if audio+video is supported on empathy when using aim.

my mates computer is slow again( happens every couple of months/due to viruses(they never update the antivirus)and i want to switch them to ubuntu.

i couldn't before as his mum uses zynga poker and there was flash issue in karmic but thats now fixed with lucid. anyway im ment to go round there later on today to reinstall windows7 again but as the flash issue is fixed i can finaly move them to ubuntu but only if empathy/aim works with video+audio.

the empathy documentation done mention if it works with aim but hoping someone here has tested/can test

Re: Does Empathy support video and audio with aim?

I use AIM, but haven't been able to test it with Empathy yet. Due to my current internet connection, only browsing the web with FireFox works. I will try this out if I get access to another internet connection soon, as I've been wondering the same question myself.

Re: Does Empathy support video and audio with aim?

this makes it clear that empathy doesnt support video with AIM. As far as I understand it, AIM is proprietary (they havent released details of their chat specification).

Persuading your friends to use Gmail might be easier!

I haven't used aim yet but I have aim through. When you use Empathy IM Client, you might get an error like this

I posted a picture of the error from Empathy IM Client in my thread.

Re: Does Empathy support video and audio with aim?

AIM chat works fine for me on both Empathy and Pidgin... I've just never tried video/audio. And AOL does make a Linux version of their client.
