    Gimp 2.6 not opening

    Hi,

Dunno if this is the right forum to post this. However, considering that I did not get any solutions on my searches, I am posting this here as I consider myself a beginner on Ubuntu.

I am Ubuntu 10.04 and have been using Gimp since I upgraded to the latest Ubuntu version. Suddenly, a few days back, the application is not starting. I have reinstalled/upgraded Gimp 2.6. However, the problem continues. Any kind of help would be useful as the application is quite important for my day to day work.
    Enjoying my tryst with Ubuntu.

To find the problem, open a terminal and type 'gimp' (no quotes) to run it, any errors will be output there.

maybe you should compile from source?

Compiling from source is rarely the right solution to the problem. What Paul820 suggested is the best idea for figuring out what's wrong.
