    normal desktop?

    i recently got a netbook and installed netbook remix on it, but i'm pretty new to ubuntu. i've had it before and just frustrated me.

    anyways, how do i get rid of this shortcut like desktop that netbook remix have and switch to the standard ubuntu desktop. specific help would be great. thank you

    install ubuntu-desktop and uninstall ubuntu-netbook

    You should have better performance I believe. I don't know netbook edition but correct me if im wrong: I don't believe it has as many extra applications and changing your DE won't effect that so you should have the same performance

    the netbook remix was made for a reason - for netbooks, specifically because they have less video card power (unless your using Nvidia ION) & smaller screen. You may/may not experience differences.

    If your using an netbook w/ a Nvidia ION card. installing ubuntu-desktop should not concern you a single bit.

    yeah. Compared to the netbook edition there will be different performance sorry I meant between your ubuntu desktop and any other ubuntu desktop

    just log out & select gnome in the session menu.

    no, no difference. the apps are the same, only the ui is different.

    why install remix in the first place? just install the normal ubuntu desktop.
