Hi and welcome to Ubuntu forums

good place to start to to read the following site
    http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/index

also check the Ubuntu Documentation > Community Documentation > TitleIndex
    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/TitleIndex
    search for Installation/FromWindows or https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...on/FromWindows

you should first made a Ubuntu cd and run from the cd to test you system to see how thing (hardware and programs) work.

good luck and have fun learning

    Re: hello Ubuntuers

Hello, You can run Ubuntu off a USB stick or a DVD to try it out. The instructions on ubuntu.com are very good for helping out making an .iso. and getting you started. I am new to Ubuntu myself and I think some great advice to someone getting started is to stick with it for a bit. My personal journey went from loving it the first hour, then hating it to the point I wanted to uninstall it and thank god I was too lazy to do that because by day two I finally realized why so many people say this is the best thing around. It is such a rewarding OS. Good luck getting started buddy

    Question Re: hello Ubuntuers

    this really Sad.
i used the demo to see if it will work on sony vaio VPCEB11FM but nothing works, the graphic, audio, the internet
nothing of these works. it didn't detect any wireless and everything works perfect in windows 7
    why?
    what should i do guys?
is there any drivers should i install?
i went to the official website it says the internet works as soon as you install it. nothing of that works with me
    i think i need a wireless driver.
    where can i get it.
this is the link to my sony info :
