Sorry but whilst I agree there is not enough programming languages to suit every purpose there is no justification for keeping "Joe Bloggs" or anybody else out of them.

Computing was for too long a "secret" discipline which excluded everyone who did not conform to "establishment" rules.

Correct - I do disagree - as do all working class people - builders, drivers, milkmen, sewer workers, nurses etc. who all do the real work whilst the middle classes press keys.

There are more people in the world who have not seen a computer than those who have used one.

Rubbish, even the poorest tribes in the least trampled parts of the globe have seen some missionary come tourist with a laptop - they may not have gotten very near and even less likely they got to log on but they've seen the equipment.
