need help with microphone

I want to be able to make my microphone play whatever sound my computer is currently playing instead of actually having a microphone and i can't figure out how, i am running kubuntu

i have tried messing in the system settings to no avail

There is a bit confusion in your post. How can you play sounds via Mic? It is possible only through Speakers. Please clarify.

i mean, when i record sound on my computer, i want it to record any sound that plays on my computer
