Ubuntu 12.04 LTS works, but not 12.10 (32 bits) with Kernel 3.5.0-17-generic
However, install (upgrading from 12.04) works, and choosing kernel 3.2.0-32-generic from the GRUB boot menu makes 12.10 run on this laptop.

1)Ubuntu 12.10
2)Dell
3)Inspiron N5050
4) Booting up hangs on the loading screen with ubuntu logo with new kernels 3.5.0-17-generic and 3.5.0-18-generic, works with kernel 3.2.0-32-generic.
The newer kernels work with a Dell Vostro.

Hi,my laptop is:

3)Laptop Model
ASUS ZENBOOK U500VZ 15.6" Full HD IPS

4)Known Issues
- Optimus Graphics card - not well supported in Linux yet. Well known problem (google it).
- Raid disks not supported. 2 SSD 128GB in FakeRAID RAID0 - not supported. Gets a I/O error from the Ubuntu Installer when copying files. Possible to turn off RAID in BIOS, but will then get performance hit, and ruinexisting Windows 8 installation. Did not try this.
- HDMI not working out-of-the-box when runngin Live USB
Besides this, I think the fan noise was somewhat annoying (constant, kind of high-pitched noise)
I send the ASUS back to the store, and got a SAMSUNG 900X4C instead.
