    I cant start Ubuntu!!

I live in WI, my parents live in NY and are generally computer illiterate.

As far as I know, no major changes or upgrades had been made when this problem arose. I believe they are still running Kharmic Koala.

After grub, a prompt asks for password for default keyring to unlock, mentioning something about the ubuntuone-client-applet wanting access. Having entered the password a blank black screen appears with only the "working" mouse cursor on-screen. This remains indefinitely.

I would really appreciate any help, especially in spelled out, dumbed-down form.

No one is using Ubuntu One so would it be possible to uninstall it without actually logging into Ubuntu? and would that fix the problem?

Having removed ubuntu one the keyring prompt doesn't appear but I still can't log on. It just goes straight to the blank screen with the waiting cursor. Any ideas anyone?
