Arrow Multi monitor with two graphics cards

    Hello people,

I've invested in a second Nvidia graphics card for my PC to expand my number of monitors.

I can't set all the monitors up in TwinView as they are on separate GPU's, which is odd.
I've been googling a lot. I've been wanting to try out Xinerama, but all sort of odd things happened, eg compiz stopped working which I rely on a lot.

When I set up the monitors on the 2nd graphics card as a separate X screen, while keeping the first set of monitors in TwinView, the TwinView mode seem to change - the first two monitors become one huge monitor. This means that maximizing windows make them span both monitors and I can't keep my panels on one physical screen.

I'm really annoyed with how messy it is to just setup another set of monitors. I tried to boot into Windows and it was 1-2-3 and I could drag windows between all three monitors - just as I want it, just on the wrong operating system.

Please give your suggestions to how to accomplish this - it must be possible, I've seen videos of people with 6+ monitors in Ubuntu.

    I am running Ubuntu 10.04.

Thank you so very much if you help me out

Is my post formulated badly, since no one has responded? :/
Or is this just not possible in Linux?

I think it's just that it is a complicated question, not the formatting

I tried using Xinerama and ignoring the pain of missing Compiz.

It has a huge impact on performance, I really don't understand why. My computer is high-end and should run everything seamlessly.

Also there is many small bugs, such as maximizing the Windows will make them go behind my panels.

Could probably live without compiz, but these bugs :S
