I'm working on a computer right now that up until Sunday evening worked just fine, however it won't connect to the wired network anymore. Booting into windows allows the computer to connect to the network just fine, but when it's booted into ubuntu the little icon just circles like it's trying to connect and then says network disconnected.
The router's lights indicate that the cable is plugged in on both ends.
Now, if in ubuntu I plug the DSL modem directly into the computer with no router, and then tell ubuntu to connect with PPoEE (or whatever the acronym is) with the correct username and password, then it will connect that way. But it still absolutely will not connect to the router when I select auto ethernet.
Any tips of diagnosing what the problem is, and correcting it?
