Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron No Sound and Can't install Flash PLayer

Hello everybody, I am a total noob to linux but have been fascinated by it for a while now, so i took the plunge and installed Hardy Heron on a partition on my mac.
The only trouble is i can't for the life of me get the flash player installed, i have tried all last night to no avail, also i have not been able to get sound working.
Please i hope somebody can help me with this as i do love the smoothness and feel of linux.

Would just like to add, installing the deb package of flash player 10 results in

ERROR: Dependency is not satisfiable: libpango1.0-0

The thing is, i did so many things last night trying to install i have forgotten half of them

Quick update, i managed to get the sound working, but am going in circles trying to get flash installed! It's driving me mad.
Please if anyone could help me

Get version 1.07 of FLASH-AID.

For the love of me, I have tried and tried to load flash player onto my computer. Adobe give me a list of versions that I am able to use, but have tried all these and an error reading always comes up. Has anyone found the same probs and if so, have you now found the correct way to load it.
