Strange bug: network-manager displays multiple buttons

I recently gave Ubuntu Lucid Lynx another shot using the backports PAE kernel with WiFi modules, so far things are looking good even though I think it runs a bit hotter than Hardy did and the battery life seems to be misreported. Since I dislike the way notify-osd works I installed the notifications-daemon to use instead. Unhappy with the default theme when using the default Lucid theme I switched back to notify-osd...since then I've had this strange bug where networkmanager informs me I'm disconnected from the network with multiple buttons.

Any idea how to fix? Screenshot included for better explanation....

Issue randomly stopped just as randomly as it appeared. Strange.
