    Mousekeys configuration

I am using mousekeys, but am habving trouble switching it on/off from the keyboard. I can do so by going to System settings -> Universal Access -> Pointing and Clicking. However various threads mention shift and Numlock to turn it on off. And the documentation on this page:

    https://help.ubuntu.com/11.10/ubuntu...mousekeys.html

Mentions only numlock to turn it on and off.

The problem is: none of this works. The only way I can control whether mouse keys is on or off is by going to the Univeral Access menu. This is annoying because I use the numpad for typing numbers and would like mousekeys to only work on when the numlock is off. (This is how it works on Windows).

    Can anyone help with this?

    Thanks,
    Robin

I can switch bewtween Mosuekeys and NumPad using the Ctrl+Shift+NumLock.

Seems to me that this is a very common problem

    Re: Mousekeys configuration

This is one of the great improvements that was part of the gnome3/unity revolution. After all we can't have stupid users accidentally toggling mouse keys on by simultaneously holding down three keys from opposite ends of the keyboard can we? Google and I missed this thread and I made another on the same subject a day after you did in another part of the forum:

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1942984

It contains two solutions, one of which works for me, and links to a third. Probably one of them will work for you. Which one will depend of what version you are running and what desktop.

And BTW, I do hope it is obvious my sarcasm isn't pointed at you. It isn't the users that have been stupid about this. Everywhere you look in the "new and improved" Ubuntu functionality has been dumped overboard for gee-whiz-showboating.
