Converted .avi videos are not recognized on DVD player

This is my main problem, I have some .mp4 videos and want to play it on a regular DVD player, but when I converted it, using avidemux, the DVD player doesn't even know the video is on the USB drive.

Please help, I encoded this videos on .mp4 to save some space, but now I need it on .avi.

I have been using Winff to convert from whatever (using MP4) to .avi and playing from a USB with no problems using XviD Widescreen setting

You're trying to convert to DVD format correct? You're not trying to play it on a Divx player or something like that, right?

If so I haven't had good luck with avidemux I use DeVeDe.
311 may be down with "the unity", but I am not.

No, Im trying to convert it to avi and play it on a DVD... If it were just to DVD format, there would be no problem then... I guess, but I'm not so in to the waiting hours...
