Hello everyone! This summer's series of Ubuntu Hour events in Lake Forest, California continues tonight at Panera. It's been great to have so many different Ubuntu enthusiasts come and visit whenever they were free. The general idea is that we meet up for an hour someplace public wearing with some Ubuntu stuff visible (some clothing or a sticker or something) and just chat for an hour. The next two dates are: Thursday, July 22th, 2010, 6pm - 7pm Thursday, July 29st, 2010, 6pm - 7pm Not only will it be fun to meet local Ubuntu fans, but we can also be a visible source of information about Ubuntu. As such, we'll be following the Ubuntu Code of Conduct. Easily summarized as "be excellent to each other," it's good common sense in a public setting anyhow. I'm going to be at the Panera Bread restaurant in Lake Forest at 6pm until 7pm. They have pretty decent food and free wi-fi access. I'll have my laptop and an Ubuntu hat and shirt, so please feel free to come up and say hi. It's also a good chance to bring along friends who are curious about Ubuntu. I'll be there this and next Thursday to wrap up July. Ubuntu Hour's been a pretty good success so for August and beyond I'll decide how frequently we'll continue to meet. Hope to see you there! Hi everyone, Continuing what we started last month, I'll be hosting an Ubuntu Hour next week (on the 4th Tuesday of the month) at The Roastery in San Francisco. Date: Tuesday, July 27nd Time: 6-7PM Location: The Roastery 199 New Montgomery St (between Natoma St & Howard St) San Francisco, CA 94105 It's less than a block from Thirsty Bear, where we hosted the SF Lucid release party. They have pastries, wifi and standard coffee shop drinks. The coffee shop isn't very big, so you shouldn't have trouble finding me - I'll be wearing an Ubuntu t-shirt and have a pink netbook with Ubuntu stickers on it. Not required since it's pretty informal, but if you feel like signing up I also created a LoCo Directory entry for it: http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/team/182/detail/ So drop by and say hello, have a chat about Ubuntu, bring along your laptop that you're having that weird problem with so we can take a look or just have a warm drink with some fellow Ubuntu people. In the area but can't make it at this time? Consider hosting your own Ubuntu Hour! They're easy and informal: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hour

They really are quite informal, just show up at a coffee shop at the same time, preferably with some ubuntu hat, shirt, simple black and white sign printed on paper...

Quick update regarding the next San Francisco Ubuntu Hour - it will not happen tonight! We are moving it to the 2nd Wednesday of the month so they will occur just prior to the Bay Area Debian meetups. More details and loco directory link to follow, but our next Hour is planned for 6PM on Wednesday November 10th.
This month we decided to sync up our Ubuntu Hour at The Roastery on New Montgomery with the same evening that Bay Area Debian plans to have their meetings - the 2nd Wednesday of the month. So on Wednesday November 10th there will be two, complementing, meetups across the street from each other: San Francisco Ubuntu Hour Time: 6-7PM Location: The Roastery, 199 New Montgomery Street, San Francisco LoCo Directory: http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/team/523/detail/ Bay Area Debian Meeting Time: 7-9PM (or later!) Location: Henry's Hunan Restaurant, 110 Natoma Street, San Francisco Announcement: http://bad.debian.net/list/2010-November/003377.html So come out to the Ubuntu Hour and join us for dinner at the Bay Area Debian Meeting! Or come early to the Bay Area Debian meeting and grab a coffee at the Ubuntu Hour! To find us at both events, look for the people in the Linux shirts (I'll be wearing a black shirt with a big Ubuntu logo on the front) and the Squeeze and Wheezy stuffed toys
