Re: Free 2D CAD Software from Dassault
The feedback at our office has been very positive so far (for the Windows version). I definitely plan on testing it out on my Karmic Laptop tonight.
We don't see this replacing our CAD licenses in our office anytime soon, but it looks like a better option than CADopia which our Senior Engineers use to review prints and make markups before submitting to our Drafting Department.
After playing with it for half of the day, Dassault put a lot of effort into it. It's as easy to customize as AutoCAD (once you get used to the lingo differences).
From what we have read, they plan on offering add-ons for a fee to add different functions. The licenses ($250 per seat) add IT support, and access to all of the newer add-ons. For what we do in 2D, the Free version has more than we need in a CAD package.
Now, how do we ask that they hurry up with the Linux version?
