No Backlight After Sleep Resume (Macbook Pro 4,1)

About every other time I put my computer into sleep, when I awaken it, the backlight wont resume. I can see the text on the screen, I know it's still displaying, there is just no light. I have to press the power button then click on restart every time. As soon as I click on the restart button, the ubuntu logo is displayed (just normal restart procedure) with the backlight suddenly on.

Is this an issue with the proprietary NVIDIA driver? I need my 3d acceleration so disabling the driver probably isn't an option. I cant find any other recent instances of anyone dealing with this. Any help would be awesome!

This is starting to happen more and more often. I think I might try to reinstall using a 32bit version of Lucid. Anyone think that might work?
