    Undo/confirm delete option

    Hi I've picked up ubuntu again, and trying to get into the swing of things again.

    When i accidentally delete something, is there an undo option, and also is there a way to enable an option that asks me to confirm delete?

    Using the GUI puts things into the Trash, using the command line deletes permanently.

    Re: Undo/confirm delete option

    Yea i'm aware it goes into trash, i wanted to know if it's possible to just undo instead of having to go into trash and restore the file and/or if there is an option to enable a confirm delete, in case i delete something accidentally.

    On an unrelated note.
    I have an AMD x3 720 black cpu, with an HD 4870. I cannot open the catalyst control centre. It gives an error message along the lines of being unable to open at this time. I'll give exact message later when i can. Any thoughts anyone?

    I get slight lagging with compiz effects, I'm not sure why, i've seen vids of ppl with PCs of lower specs performing better with the effects. May be a driver issue?

    hi
    in your ~/bashrc ---> alias rm='rm -i'
    may be this can help you a little bit. ( but not for undo ).
    on every rm you will be ask for " .... realy want .... ?.
    but be careful that other scripts will run without to confirm your "rm" command ( you can use : unalias rm to set the alias back )
    ciao

    oh, thanks for the help, not going to do what you suggested just as yet. It's a bit too complicated for me to understand at this time. I'll leave it as it is for now until i get more prominent with the ins and outs of ubuntu. I thought there was an easy quick fix for what i was asking haha

    THere really seems to be a an ATI/compiz problem...it's common it seems, i've read up and saw people talking about back fill clear, or backfill patches etc. But I have no idea what that even means :/
