Dipped in Ubuntu
The last crash I have had in Linux that I couldn't attribute to anything I've done was with Ubuntu 6.10. I actually needed to restart the computer. It's really taken for granted how stable Linux is. I was doing some statistical work on a Windows machine a few days ago and lost everything when it decided it didn't want to work anymore. Excel crashed and the OS became unresponsive.

About less than 20 kernel panics on my old Gateway.
Much of the kernel panics on that Gateway were caused by a semi-borked ext3 filesystem. The /bin/,/usr/bin, and a few other folders somehow went missing on Ubuntu 8.04. I have had to reinstall Ubuntu every time that happened. Other kernel panics have occured either while trying to transfer music from my PC to my old laptop under Ubuntu 8.10 or by killing X (via ALT+SYSRQ+K) on the Ubuntu 10.04 alphas

Not once has ubuntu crashed on me, lots of games and a few Apps have crashed/grayed out.

The poll didn't suggest what period of time was involved. Yes, I have had about 5 crashes; however, that is about one a year. It also didn't suggest how many computers were in use. I currently have 4 computers at home running Linux.
Use whatever OS or desktop works for you. Dual boot or use VMs if you want. Backup your computer regularly, and definitely before upgrading, partitioning, or installing an OS.

None with Ubuntu and none with Suse. I am feeling lucky today.
