    Did you also try ndiswrapper? You should definitely not have both an ra0 and a wlan0. Let's see:

    lsmod | grep ndis
    If ndiswrapper is loaded, please do:

    sudo ndiswrapper -e rt2870
    Now reboot and let's see how your wireless is working.

    Do you have an internal wireless card, also? An Intel?

    I don't understand this at all:

    Yes I do. but i got it working now. i had to sudo ifconfig ra0 up and bring down my wlan0 and reboot...I really really appreciate your help thank you.
