    32" Emerson Resolution Issue

    Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I appreciate your time. I am absolutely new to Linux. I've used windows on every computer I've ever owned and finally made the switch to Ubuntu yesterday. Needless to say, I know absolutely nothing. I use my computer to check email, complete school assignments, and watch movies.

I have an Acer desktop. It has an Nvidia graphics card. My 32" Emerson hdtv is connected via HDMI cable. My maxiimum option for resolution is 1280x 720 (16:9). As a result, the task bar and top of maximized windows aren't visible.

I tried changing the drivers In the menu. I also tried changing my TVs settings.

I don't know how to manually change anything to the system. Heck I can't even log in after pressing ctrl+alt+f2.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Cordially,

    J Thompson

In Lubuntu, I'm not sure you if your using Lubuntu or Ubuntu, go to Menu/Preferences/Monitor Settings and make your changes there.

For How-To's, Information and Screen-Casts on Lubuntu go to the

I tried to do that. I went through the display/ monitor settings pretty thoroughly, and wasn't able to fix it. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10
