worked for me too! Macbook 2,1 Ubuntu 10.10
I'm on macbook pro 4,1 and ubuntu maverick but the solution:
does not fix the issue permanently!amixer set IEC958 off
Every time I started ubuntu red light comes up from my jack input!
Also:
does not fix the problem.Code:# alsactl store
Is there a solution for fix that permanently?
Thanks a lot for any advices![]()
There's probably a better way, but I just added a script with that command to my start-up applications.
i.e.
turnOffLight.sh:
And added the commandCode:#!/bin/bash amixer set IEC958 off
"bash /yourPathToFile/turnOffLight.sh"
to your start-up applications (found in System/Preferences). If someone has a better solution let me know.
Thanks a lot quickridgeturnOffLight.sh:

It perfectly works.
I know that it would be a better way to solve this issue but for now is a smart solution.
It was very annoying to make that every time on starting ubuntu system.
Good luck for you!
Bye.
The non-restoring on start-up seems to be related to Ubuntu overriding the stored alsa settings at login, although I have no idea how that happens. I'm gonna keep looking into it but for now, running the brief startup script as suggested by quickridge is probably the simplest solution. If I ever figure out how to fix this in a more traditional manner I'll post it here.
