Re: Acer Aspire 4820TG TimelineX Thread

    Good morning,

Could some try to regulate the brightness of their display through the terminal with

    sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=xx

xx means the procentage value of the brightness. so xx is between 1 and 99

If you're using the Radeon graphic card, you have to replace 00:02.0 with 01:00.0

It doesn't work for me with Ubuntu 11.10 Gnome 3

On my girlfriends netbook with Ubuntu 11.10 Unitiy it is working.

It would be great if someone could help me with this.

Volume is just working fine, but the brightness is a problem.
I can only change between total minimum, 50% and maximum.

    I have 1.23.

    Is 1.25 stable?

Edit: But is the setpci command working on your laptop?

1.25 is the best version yet. I've been using it since April 2011. It fixed a lot of small, nagging things for a lot of people.

Re: Acer Aspire 4820TG TimelineX Thread

After updating the Bios, there are two possible things to happen if I want to change the brightness.

Number 1 : The Symbol appears and I can change between 0, 50 and 100% Brightness.

    Number 2: The Symbol doesnt appear and i can change between 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 % Brightness.

Someone got an idea how to solve this?

Did you upgrade from a previous version or clean install? Honestly, after BIOS 1.25, I've never had any trouble whatsoever. When I used to run Ubuntu (last version was 11.10 for a month), I clean installed between versions and had no trouble.

I made an update from cd from version 10.10.
At the beginning everything worked fine but with an update it got the way it is now.
