Unity Theme (Desktop)

Hi All,

Since the old thread covering this Theme is closed, will continue on a more appropriate place.

I've been a ubuntu user for quite some time now, but I think the looks of ubuntu are beginning to lag behind.
I'm not against the brown/orange theme, in fact I like it, but it just misses the final touches.
The login screen needs the be revamped and needs a complementary lock screen as well.
I took the liberty of redrawing the dust theme, which I use daily, and was wondering if you guys could give me some directions and tell me if you like my approach!
Should I continue to put my effort into this?
I'm not even sure if my ideas are possible to achieve with the skinning possibilities of metacity.
So please enlighten me!

You should definitely carry on, this is the best looking theme I've seen. I use the dust theme and prefer what you've done to it, really quite slick. Are you still working on it? If so, when will you be finished?

Still working on it, but I've been on vacation etc. And still considering renaming the theme.
Seems the interest dropped much since Ubuntu came with there Unity desktop which most likely keeps people from checking out this thread.

Any suggestions?
It must have something to do with the Ubuntu philosophy and the consistency I'm trying to pursue.

As for the theme itself, it will take a while I reckon. I mentioned in the first thread I'll first draw all the screens and will be asking some of you guys to help me make a theme of it.
(All components such as gdm logon etc.)
It must be something like a deb (ppa) that will add all the necessary themes and set them accordingly, so the users don't have to hack for it to work. Even the Compiz blur effect (And some other plugins as well) should be enabled and configured.

hi, i was looking at your theme, and i really like it, well i really dont like the actual wallpaper of ubuntu, but i like the colors, so ive decided to make a new design of the wallpaper using those colors, kind of... so maybe you like it here it is.

If u could remove the ubuntu logo in the center and make the large logo a little smaller and more apparent and resize it to 1280x800. I'll make a screenshot of the login using your background...

Just giving this thread a bump to show it some love.

I'll admit, during the Alphas of 11.04, I was very disappointed by Unity. I've since worked with Ubuntu 11.04 and Fedora 15 and from what I can tell, Unity is more efficient (fewer clicks/movements to complete an action) in most cases compared to Gnome 3 with Gnome Shell.

Symphony looks like an amazing theme and provides a level of polish to the desktop on par with (but very different from) Apple's OS X theme (at least since I last used in @ 10.5).

I suggest to swap the brown out for an equally light hue of that funky orange to keep the theme consistent with the current Ubuntu color scheme, but other than that it rocks hard core.

I wish everyone/anyone working on this the very best (as I have no relevant skills to contribute).
