    Update Notification

    Hello everyone,
I am kind of new to Ubuntu. I have only been using it for about 2 months or so.

I have noticed when I first started to use this OS when ever updates were available I would get a notification icon in the upper right hand corner. But sense upgrading to 10.04 I do not get any notifications of updates. I have checked for update in the Update Manager > settings and I have it set to notify me of daily updates. I check the update manager about every 3 days and notice that there have been a-lot of updates but I never get notified of them.
Do I have something set wrong causing me not to be notified?
Or is this a known problem that needs to be fixed or is there a work around where I can be notified when update come available?

    Re: Update Notification

When you check, what sort of updates are available? The manager separates them into "important security updates" and "recommended updates."

I believe the system won't tell you about recommended updates unless you do a manual check while it will notify you of important updates.

I may be wrong on this though...
"Hello, I.T., have you tried turning it off and on again?"
