How to display and enter into recovery mode?

    Hi,

Holding the shift key down will bring up the menu for grub2. From there you can select recovery from the menu.

How do I enter recovery mode if I m not using grub! I use Xubuntu 10.04 as primary os on my primary disk and havn't installed any boot loader! OK - I solved it - holding shift after restart brings me into the grub menu.

You must have a bootloader. You wouldn't be able to boot otherwise. o_O
